Your Top 10 Posts from the Past 200! (200th Post – Milestone Achieved!)

Blogging to you this morning, lovely writers, from post number 200! Wow, it feels like quite a milestone, and I can’t believe I’ve had that much to say! I thought it’d be an idea to reflect back on the posts that led to this point, and so I’m re-sharing your 10 favourites from the past (based on ‘likes’ and ‘views’.)

Mostly, I’d like to say a huge thank you to everybody who has ever read, liked and commented on a post. I do this to connect with amazing writers and hear their thoughts and opinions and advice, and I love it. You are all amazing!

Right….here we go;

Writers: Be Kind To Yourself

I’m so thrilled this post is so popular, because it’s the most important message! We put ourselves under a lot of pressure, to be permanently productive, to reach often impossible standards, to stick to tight deadlines. Lawrence Kasdan once said; Being a writer is like having homework every night for the rest of your life. And it’s true…which is why we need to promote selfcare and kindness amongst us all.

4 Things That Happen When You Make Writing a Habit

Habit is often the route to success, because it encourages you to make time for your passion regularly. This post explains the four things that can habit when you make a habit out of writing.

Novel Writing: What If It’s All For Nothing?

If you’ve ever had that sinking feeling, that no-one will ever read your work, that it’ll never be published, then this is the post for you. Give it a read!

Writers: Don’t Edit Away Your Voice

Editing is great. Essential, exciting and important. But it’s important not to get so carried away, so caught up by ‘perfection’, and so determined to do what others think is right, that you edit away your voice.

Novel Editing Mistakes To Avoid

Speaking of editing, next on the list is another editing based post. Mistakes to avoid…always worth checking out.

Synopsis Writing: A Step by Step Method

The dreaded synopsis…oh, how we hate them! This post offers a step by step method that I hope makes the process a little easier.

Writing Clichés And How To Avoid Them

Some important advice I learned at uni. How to spot writing clichés and, importantly, how to avoid them. It’s so important to stand out and have a unique voice in this industry and clichés are a sure way to kill that.

Ways To Remain Loyal To Your Novel, When Inspiration Strikes

A tricky one. Nothing beats the shining, dazzling excitement of a brand new idea. And when you’ve been working on the same project for a long time, it’s so easy to be tempted to give something different a go. But finishing your novel is just as important as starting it, and this post highlights how to stay on track.

Things You Notice When You Print Out Your Novel

It’s always exciting, reading your words in print for the first time. But it’s also essential to the editing process, and this post highlights those things you notice when you print out your work.

The Perfect Writing Environment

What actually is the perfect writing environment? At home, surrounded by scented candles? A bustling coffee shop? The peaceful backdrop of a library? This post attempts to work it out…

Again, I’d like to thank every reader so much for encouraging me to keep posting each week. It means a lot. Do drop a comment below to let me know how you’re doing and where you are at in your writing journey.

Until then,
Keep writing,
M
